Welcome to the website of the National Community Land Trust Network. We are a new organization—officially conceived in 2005 and incorporated in July 2006. While we are young in age, we have many years of experience behind us. The people who formed the National CLT Network represent the oldest and most durable community land trusts in the country.
We have formed this new organization so that together we will:
- Strengthen our member organizations through training, best practices, and technical support;
- Increase investments in community land trusts by partnering with donors and investors—including financial institutions, philanthropists, and government agencies;
- Increase public awareness and understanding of community land trusts by telling the stories of our leaseholders --- it is these stories, more than anything that will inspire people about this alternative approach to land tenure and ownership that improves community health, social equity and stability.
- Advocate for public policies that support permanent and durable access to land for affordable housing and a wide range of community-based needs;
We invite you to join us and look forward to serving you.
Sincerely,
Lisa Byers
